Find Out About Friday - Which Adhesive Should I Use?

One of the questions I get asked a lot is which adhesive is best for which job. Stampin’ Up! have put a handy table in the Idea Book and Catalogue to help us,
Which Stampin' Up! Glue Should I use?
you can find a full size copy the table here.

Stampin’ Up! offer a range of adhesives all of which can be found on page 100 of the Idea Book and Catalogue.

Snail: This wonderful refillable hand sized dispenser leaves a trail of double sided permanent adhesive. I LOVE it – it is my go to adhesive when I am making cards and scrapbook pages as it is quick, effective and mess free. I use it to stick papers, cards and ribbons. Item Number 104332 £5.50, Refills Item Number 104331 £3.75. Each Snail / Refill contains 12m of adhesive.

Stampin’ Dimensionals: These fabulous double sided adhesive foam pads add instant depth to your projects – they are larger than most others on the market and a handy hexagonal shape means that add stability to the layer you want raised and that you need less of them. They are great for paper, card, ribbon, chipboard and embellishments like buttons. I always have a pack of these to hand. Item Number 104430 £3.25, 300 in each pack

Sticky Strip (or Red Tape as it is sometimes known) is an extra strong adhesive that is fantastic for 3D projects and projects where the join will be put under some tension. This stuff is super strong and can be used on a large number of items – I have even used it to hold set in place at the theatre and for running repairs to costumes – strangely enough these are not on Stampin’ Up!’s list!!!! Item Number 104294 £5.50 for 9.1m of tape

Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive: This brilliant glue has been the subject of its own Find Out About Friday. It can be permanent or if allowed to dry before adhering it can be temporary. It can be used for paper, card, chipboard, glitters and much more. Like the SNAIL it is acid free so suitable for both card making and scrapbooking. It is also great for 3D projects. Item Number 110755 £3.25 for 25g

2 Way Glue Pen: The chisel nib on this handy little glue pen dispenses glue which can be a temporary or permanent adhesive. It is also acid free and great for precision application of glitter and for adhering paper. Item Number 100425 £3.25 for 10g

Crystal Effects:  This amazing and clear adhesive dries to give a shiny lacquered effect which is simply stunning. The bond it gives is very strong and suitable for many surfaces. Item Number 101055 £5.75 for 57g

Glue Dots: These super sticky glue dots are designed to hold embellishments in place – you just take your embellishment to the dot and then take the now sticky embellishment to your project. They give a subtle raised effect. Item Number 103683 £3.95 for approx 300 dots

Now while you are thinking about adhesives you may also want to think about the wonderful little Adhesive Remover (Item Number 103684) – for those moments where the adhesive ends up somewhere you did not want it to be! This happens to me a lot and I am so glad I invested my £3.25 in one!

I hope you have found this useful and if you would like to order any of the adhesives for the projects you have coming up please email bekka@feeling-crafty.co.uk
